U.S. Model 1816 Springfield Flintlock Musket On

U.S. Model 1816 Springfield Flintlock Musket 1st type .69 cal smooth bore jacksonarmorypower! This is a presentation musket. It is a marksmanship award presented to E.C. of the “Livingston Guards” on Aug. 26, 1844. The barrel is 42”. The finish on the barrel is very good. The wood on this is excellent. There is some surface corrosion on the metal work. The presentation angel badge is inlaid on the left of the stock. On the right stock is inlaid with an eagle. Of the 10 stars inlaid into the wood only one has gone missing. “SM. Co.” is stamped on the left side of the breach. The “Livingston Guards” was Company B, 1st Texas Infantry. The Model 1816 was used by Texians during the Texas Revolution and by the US Army and militia during the Mexican American War . It was also used during the early years of the American Civil War until around 1862
