SMITH & WESSON MODEL 53 -- .22 JET...Scarce 4, Last Yea

NO RESERVE!! Here's a super nice Smith & Wesson Model 53. This interesting revolver is chambered to shoot the bottle-neck .22 Remington Jet magnum centerfire cartridge. The .22 Jet is essentially a necked-down .357 Magnum and is capable of producing velocities of about 2000fps. With the help of special chamber inserts, this revolver will also shoot standard .22 Long Rifle ammo! Built on the three-screw K-frame, it features a unique 2-position striker in the hammer with two corresponding firing pins in the frame which allows the shooter to choose between the centerfire .22 Jet or the rimfire .22 LR cartridge. The revolver wear the less common 4" barrel and is fitted with the "combat style" front sight and micrometer click adjustable rear sight. Overall condition is excellent with only very light storage wear and a cylinder turn line. The original polished blue finish rates about 99% overall. There is no rust or pitting. The original checkered target stocks are in excellent condition, free of any wear. The mechanics are in perfect working order with good timing and lock-up. The bore is also in excellent shape, bright with sharp rifling. It comes in the crisp original box which numbers to the gun and includes a full set of six .22 LR chamber inserts, the original instruction sheet, miscellaneous factory paperwork, and still sealed cleaning kit and screw driver. According to the serial number, this Model 53 was manufactured in 1974, the final year of production. It is interesting to note that the revolver is marked "Mod. 53" inside the crane when in fact I believe it should have been marked "Mod. 53-2" for this period of production.
