The Gatlin Gun is a replica of the “Camelback†model of 1879. The gun was reproduced by a man named Glady L. who lives in Michigan. This was one of many that were made by him that he and several others made as collectors pieces as well as full scale cannons. They used to travel to be a part of re-enactments and exhibitions with these guns.
This particular gun that I have has his name on it gun under the breech cover. The caliber is 44 Special, the firing pins and bolt assemblies are new. All 10 barrels are in perfect condition! The gun does need some work but to someone familiar with these should have no problem with it. The specific work needed is that the bolts require extractors cut in and installed. With that being said, I have had too many projects to add this to my to do list which is why I am selling it.
While you and I don’t know anything about each other, I will say that I have owned a gunsmith business for over 25 years, consider myself a master of small arms, and I am acquainted with the builder of this gun. I will also say that all of his reproductions are very sound and top notch work. Some of his guns sold for tens of thousands of dollars and while some of these reproductions are painted gloss black and have lots of brass on certain pieces pending the model, this one, as you can see from the photos, is purposely made to look old. I have had this one sitting in my living room for nearly 20 years.
