Markings: The left side of the receiver is marked “SAKO AIIIâ€, “531727â€, with a logo and “RVâ€. The left side of the barrel is marked “308 Normaâ€. The bottom of the floorplate is engraved with a picture of an eland.

Sights / Optics: The receiver has integral bases. There are no provisions for iron sights.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a one piece hardwood (maple?) with a beautiful fiddleback pattern. Please see our pictures!!! The buttstock has a Monte Carlo comb with raised cheekpiece, a pistol grip that flares at the bottom, and a vented reddish brown rubber recoil pad marked “Pachmayrâ€. The stock shows light handling marks, with small compression marks at the heel of the butt and on the right side of the stock behind the grip. There is also a small chip in the finish on the left side of the stock at the heel. The cheekpiece has several spots of discoloration where something caustic dripped on the cheekpiece. The LOP measures 14†from the front of the trigger to the back of the recoil pad, which is soft. The stock rates in about Fine overall condition.
Type of Finish: The barrel and receiver are blued, with an in-the-white bolt and bolt handle. The trigger guard and magazine floorplate are engraved.
Finish Originality: The barrel is not original to the rifle. The receiver finish appears to be original.
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is deep with light wear. There is no erosion. Our bore gauge measured a ME of about 1.5.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its current metal finish. The barrel and receiver show light handling marks. There are spots of discoloration in the checkering at the back of the bolt, on the bolt handle, the body of the bolt and the extractor. The tang screws are disfigured. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle.
