Up for consideration is an exceptionally well made reproduction of a coehorn mortar that would have been used as a siege device during the revolutionary war. This particular piece is something I've wanted to build for years and succeeded. The dimensions of the solid hickory bed have been made from the British artillery manual dated from the 18th century and sized accordingly dimensionally and in weight. The barrel is scaled as close to original castings as could be done with high quality modern steels. All areas under pressure have been professionally welded and proofed. The mortar is chambered for a max charge of 700gr and is designed for salute charges ONLY using black powder ONLY. All iron mountings and hardware are handforged. This piece is heavy, designed to be crewed by a team of four as historically based so transportation isn't necessarily fun for one person but doable once the barrel is removed from the bed. She's been meticulously maintained and cared for with no compromises. All loading accoutrements will accompany the piece for years of use. If you have any questions please feel free to ask! Thanks for looking and be blessed.
Barrel diameter of 5" with an approximate weight of 230lbs.
Solid hickory bed, approximate weight of 150lbs.
All handforged hardware.
Asking $3,750 OBO, I will not respond to unreasonable offers.
